GENERAL SURGERY

about us
The General Surgery Department at Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar Seremban (HTJS) provides comprehensive surgical care for adult patients across elective, emergency, outpatient and peri-operative settings. As a tertiary referral centre for Negeri Sembilan, the department manages a broad spectrum of surgical conditions, including gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, colorectal, breast, endocrine, trauma, and general surgical emergencies.
The department operates daily outpatient clinics, elective operating lists, and 24/7 emergency surgical services, supported by well-established diagnostic and peri-operative teams. In-patient care is delivered across dedicated surgical wards, ensuring continuity of care from admission to discharge.
General Surgery in HTJS is organised into several interest-based subspecialty units—such as colorectal, breast & endocrine, hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB), paediatric and trauma surgery—allowing focused expertise while maintaining integrated multidisciplinary patient management.
The team consists of consultant general surgeons, trauma surgeons, medical officers, house officers, and trained nursing staff, all working collaboratively to deliver safe, timely, and patient-centred surgical care. The department also supports surgical training for medical officers, house officers, and postgraduate master’s trainees, contributing to the development of future surgeons in Malaysia.
